Dormant Oil Sprays are used to cover the eggs of destructive insects, which were deposited on the bark of trees the previous seasons by adult females.
Dormant Oil Spray
This "growth" on an Apple twig can turn into hundreds of destructive insects. A coating of Dormant Oil Spray prevents oxygen from reaching the eggs causing their demise. The individual eggs of some species are much less noticeable than these eggs masses are.
Dormant Oil Spray should be applied at the first sign of leaf bud swelling in the Spring time. It should be applied liberally, making sure that every nook and cranny of bark is made wet. Many insects seek out these sheltered areas to deposit their eggs.
As with all Sprays, follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container.
