Various Chemical Detergents may damage some
Plants or Foliage. Look for a container that does not mention "Detergent".
Non-detergent hand soaps may also be used. The purpose of the soap is to
break the water's surface film and allow the other ingredients to penetrate
the Insect.
Experiment:
If you drop an insect onto water in a cup, chances
are it will float because of its natural skin oils and the surface tension
of the water.
Add 1 drop of Dishwashing Liquid in the cup. The Insect
will begin to sink as the ingredients, which are made to penetrate oil
and grease, take effect.
